Description
The FAN5240 provides the power, control and protection for
the CPU in AMD platform notebook PC applications. The IC
integrates a two phase PWM controller as well as monitoring
and protection circuitry into a single 28 lead QSOP package.
The two phases of the controller are interleaved synchronous
buck converters, providing high efciency PWM at
maximum load and hysteretic conversion at minimum load.
Hysteretic mode can be disabled by a control pin.
The FAN5240 includes an AMD specied 5-input DAC that
adjusts the core PWM output voltage from 0.925V to 2.0V.
The DAC setting may be changed during operation. The
transition occurs in <100s. A precision reference, true
differential remote sense, and a proprietary architecture with
active droop provide excellent static and dynamic core
voltage regulation. The FAN5240 includes over-voltage, and
over-current protection, an AMD compliant Power Good and
an enable for true shutdown. It is available in a QSOP28.
