DESCRIPTION
Fujitsu MB86612 is a high- performance 1394 serial bus controller device conforming to
IEEE1394 standard (IEEE1394- 1995), Revision 8.0 Ver.2. It has dual interface ports with differ-
ential transceiver and comparator for the network under 1394 cable circumstance. The 1394
data rate achieves maximum 98.304Mbps (S100).
The MB86612 device integrates both physical- layer block and link- layer block into a single- chip
to realize the down- sizing and low power consumption for 1394 serial bus applications.
The device has data ports dedicated for isochronous transfer which automatically separates the
header section from the data section and packetizes them for the continuity of data transfer. The
MB86612 supports the AV/C protocol of both DVC and MPEG modes including their various auto-
matic operations and required CSRs.
FEATURES
Complies with IEEE 1394 high-performance serial bus standard draft (IEEE1394- 1995 Rev.8.0
ver2)
Integrates Physical layer and Link layer into a single- chip
2 cable ports (98.304Mbps data transfer speed ).
3.3V single power supply
Internal clock generator by on- chip PLL (with crystal oscillator)
Power Down Modes:
1) Forced sleep by an instruction from external MPU
2) Automatic sleep for non- connected ports
Automatic separation of received- header &- data and packetization for the transmission.
Cycle master function
32-bit CRC generation & check
General- purpose ports for asynchronous transfer (16-bit MPU bus)
Isochronous-transfer ports (8-bit bus)
Various CSRs and Automatic operation mode for AV/C protocol:
1) Automatic separation of received- CIP header and packetization for the transmission
2) Automatic source packet header (time stamp) generation
3) Automatic time stamp detection
4) Automatic increment function for DBC section
5) Empty packet transfer
6) On- chip PCR (1 channel)
7) Automatic C&S lock process and read process for each CSR
8) Automatic operation for Late packet

This device contains circuitry to protect the inputs against
damage due to high static voltages or electric fields.
However, it is advised that normal precautions be taken to
avoid application of any voltage higher than maximum rated
voltages to this high impedance circuit.
Supports both 1394 4- pin and 6- pin cables
