advanced DVD playback capability with Web browsing and flexible
video mixing capabilities for creating leading-edge consumer
audio/video products. With its integrated 135 MHz MIPS RISC CPU,
135 MHz DSP, MPEG-2 video decoder and graphics processor, it
delivers high quality to fully integrated displays.
The unified memory architecture allows flexibility for future product
designs. Through the StandardsPlus design methodology, Zoran
builds upon the industry standards to provide leading-edge
capabilities for advanced DVD players and audio/video appliances.
The Vaddis 5 accesses Zoran’s extensive SiliconSoftware library,
with a variety of innovative audio algorithms. The Vaddis 5 is the
ideal IC solution for DVD, iDVD, Personal Video Recorder (PVR),
DVD Recording and Video-On-Demand products.

Feature Description
DVD Processing
The Vaddis 5 is the ideal solution for universal DVD players, fully
supporting both DVD-Video and DVD-Audio playback. This single-
chip solution performs DVD demultiplexing and parsing, MPEG-2 or
MPEG-1 video decoding, subpicture decoding, highlight processing,
and audio/video synchronization. Content Protection for Prerecorded
Media (CPPM) and Content Protection for Recordable Media
(CPRM) support is integrated. The on-chip graphics processor and
OSD units provide great flexibility in creating sophisticated on-
screen user interfaces.
Web Browsing
The Vaddis 5 system-on-a-chip architecture enables simultaneous
DVD playback and high-quality Web browsing with its powerful CPU
and hardware accelerators. The on-chip 2D graphics engine with
three display planes enables full-screen display of 16-bit color user
interfaces and content. DSP acceleration for decoding of
compressed still images and Internet audio allow for an enriching
user experience. Separate OSD planes allow for efficient partitioning
of user interfaces and content for maximum throughput. Hardware
deflicker filtering enables the high quality display of Web content
on an interlaced television display. The combination of an embedded
CPU, graphics processing and video filtering enable true iDVD
applications.
