Using external OC detection circuit
When V
CC
(pin 56) is connected to the +3.3 V power supply instead of the +5 V
power supply, then the internal OC detection circuit cannot be used. An external OC
detection circuit must be used instead. Nevertheless, regardless of V
CC
’s
connections, an external OC detection circuit can be used from time to time. To use
an external OC detection circuit, AnalogOCEnable, bit 10 of the
HcHardwareConfiguration register, should be set to logic 0. By default after reset, this
bit is already set to logic 0; therefore, the HC Driver does not need to clear this bit.

shows how to use an external OC detection circuit.
