Tachometer Signaling on PWM Input Pin (PWM)
The PWM pin of the THMC45 provides a 1s (typical), TBDmA (typical) current sink pulse 1s
(typically) after the next rising edge of the PWM input signal after the hall sensor comparator changes
states (see Figure 5).
Note that the THMC45 incorporates a blanking circuit which will ignore
transitions on the PWM pin during the duration of the tach current pulses to insure that the tachometer
pulses don’t corrupt the output PWM signal. This current signal is detected by the THMC11, as well as
other future Texas Instruments PC Thermal Management devices, and used to report fan speed back
through the SMBus interface.
