3.1.1 Serial Bus Read and Write Cycles
A general-call address is one in which the master does a start condition
followed by eight zeroes, Figure 3.2. This type of address addresses
every device on the serial bus. Any device that requires information
supplied through this general-call structure acknowledges the cycle. The
second byte, when set to 0b00000110 (0x06), indicates a reset and a
hardware write of the programmable part of the slave address.

3.1.1.1 Single-Read Cycle
The single-read cycle has two variations: without, and with, repeat-start
condition.
Single-Read Cycle without Repeat Start Condition – The steps in a
single-read cycle with no repeat-start condition, Figure 3.3, are:
Step 1.
The master starts the cycle by issuing a start condition.
Step 2.
The master transmits the 7-bit slave address.
Step 3.
The master sets the R/W bit to 0, to indicate a write cycle.
Step 4.
The addressed slave acknowledges the reception of the slave
address by driving SDA LOW in the ACK cycle.
Step 5.
The master sends the 8-bit address.
Step 6.
The addressed slave acknowledges the reception of the
address by driving SDA LOW in the ACK cycle.
Step 7.
The master issues a stop condition.
Step 8.
The master issues a start condition.
Step 9.
The master transmits the 7-bit slave address.
Step 10. The master sets the R/W bit to 1, to indicate a read cycle.
Step 11. The addressed slave acknowledges the reception of the slave
address by driving SDA LOW in the ACK cycle.
